A 36-YEAR-OLD man arrested in Donegal in connection with the murder of Derry woman Jean Quigley was under heavy guard in hospital yesterday.
He was removed to Sligo General Hospital for treatment from Ballyshannon Garda station when he complained of feeling unwell.
The man was arrested in Donegal town on Tuesday night under measures entitling gardaí to hold him for up to 24 hours before he must be brought to court or released. But his term of detention went into suspension for the period he was in hospital.
He wasn't expected to be brought to court yesterday. He could appear before a scheduled special vacation sitting of the District Court in Donegal town this morning or in Sligo this afternoon.
The man was taken to Ballyshannon Garda station 22 kilometres from the arrest scene in Donegal town on Tuesday night.
He is being held pending extradition proceedings.
The 30-year-old mother-of-four was found murdered at her home in Shantallow, Derry, last Saturday week.
She had been brutally beaten to death. She was expecting her fifth child.
