Sven Goran Eriksson has recalled Spurs midfielder Darren Anderton and Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips to the England squad for Saturday's friendly international against Sweden.

Anderton, who has been in great form for Spurs this season after being previously dogged by injury, earned the last of his 29 caps as a substitute in the 1-0 friendly defeat by Italy under caretaker manager Peter Taylor last November.

That game was also Phillips's last appearance and he gets another chance to impress the manager are previously being overlooked.

Eriksson today named a 26-man squad for the Old Trafford clash against his native country and also included uncapped West Ham United winger Trevor Sinclair and Anderton's Spurs team mate Teddy Sheringham.

As expected, there is a recall for Michael Owen after the Liverpool striker missed the 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw with Greece through injury. Owen scored twice for Liverpool in yesterday's 3-1 win over Manchester United.

Manchester United duo Andy Cole and Wes Brown, Tottenham's Sol Campbell, Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman and defender Ashley Cole, and Liverpool's Nick Barmby were not available because of injury.
