An Post has been urged to reopen a post office in north Dublin closed more than three week ago following the death of its postmistress, controversial Catholic campaigner Míne Bean Uí Chribín.
Fianna Fáil councillor Paul McAuliffe yesterday called on the company to give priority to the appointment of a new postmaster and to reopen the Santry Avenue post office.
He said residents in Ballymun, Shanliss, Oldtown and other areas had had no service since the office closed on August 7th.
An Post said yesterday it was considering the permanent closure of its Santry office and the transfer of services to Omni Park shopping centre, but no final decision has been made

Bean Uí Chribín had been the postmistress at the Santry Avenue office for nearly 50 years after taking over from her father in the 1963.
