An Post launches Special Olympics stamps

Four stamps commemorating the Special Olympics, which take place in Ireland in June, were launched today.

Four stamps commemorating the Special Olympics, which take place in Ireland in June, were launched today.

The stamps, which go on sale tomorrow around the country, were unveiled by the four Special Olympics athletes whose images are featured on the stamps.

The three Irish athletes who are shown include bowler Shauna Bradley from Baltinglass, Co Wicklow who appears on the 41 cent stamp; swimmer Michael Breen from Gorey, Co Wexford who features on the 50 cent stamp while shot-putter Michael Mullins, of Casla, Co Galway appears on the €1 stamp. New York Athlete, Ezra Canty is shown on the 57 cent stamp.

About 7,000 participants, coaches and assistants are coming to Ireland to participate in the Games, which take place from June 19th to 26th in a number of venues in the greater Dublin area and Belfast.
