A soccer talent scout has been saved from a jail term for handling stolen jewellery after judge heard character evidence from soccer manager Ray Treacy and Oscar winner Brenda Fricker.
Ms Fricker told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court she had been friendly with Thomas Kavanagh for 20 years.
The former Irish international and Shamrock Rovers manager, Mr Treacy, said he could give Kavanagh a job in his travel company.
Judge Michael Moriarty imposed a two year suspended sentence. He also ordered,
