A Crumlin woman charged with abandoning her four-year-old daughter at the entrance to a Tallaght pub had her case adjourned for mention yesterday at Tallaght Court.

Ms Sharon Ryan (34), Downpatrick Road, Crumlin, is charged with abandoning a child under the Children's Act at the Belgard Inn, Belgard Road, Tallaght, on April 26 last.

Garda Gavin Ross said Ms Ryan had nothing to say when charged. He told the court that on the evening of April 26th, Ms Ryan went to the Belgard Inn with her four-year-old daughter in a carry-cot. She had tried to get in but was refused entry.

He said that Ms Ryan wanted to see a gentleman inside, the father of the child. The man indicated he wanted nothing to do with Ms Ryan or the child. Ms Ryan then left the carry-cot at the door and got into a waiting taxi.

The child was minded by door staff while gardaí were called. The child is currently in foster care.

Judge McDonnell remanded Ms Ryan on continuing bail to October 22nd next.
