Algiers - Islamic militants slaughtered 32 people in three attacks at the weekend, Algerian security sources said yesterday.
Eleven civilians were killed on Saturday by militants in the village of Chegua near M'sila, 250 km south-east of Algiers, the security services said.
At Tamesna, in Saida, south-west of the capital, "a terrorist group" killed 17 people, and wounded five others, also on Saturday. Three of the assailants were killed as security services launched a search operation.
In the region of Berrouaghia, 100 km south of the capital, four travellers were killed at a checkpoint set up by the militants.
