North Dublin: Lusk Village is launching a new phase of three and four-bedroom houses

North Dublin: Lusk Village is launching a new phase of three and four-bedroom houses. Apart from the visual appeal of this scheme, its location (off the M1 motorway and with a train service to the city) is a strong buying incentive.Kate McMorrow reports.

Sherry FitzGerald New Homes will be taking bookings at five showhouses, open for viewing this Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Prices from €242,995 and €314,995 will suit first-time buyers and families.

McGarrell Reilly Homes and architect Conroy Crowe Kelly have come up with a "village within a village" concept, matching the character of houses on the main street. A diversity of styles and roof lines creates a non-uniformity which blends well. Some houses are double-fronted, with timber windows and cottage-style doors. Others have wooden porches or rounded trellises. Pastel-coloured houses are interspersed with brick-fronted units, some stepped back. The houses are set in well-landscaped gardens, with curved stone walls for a traditional touch. With 48 units on offer and 10 different house styles, prospective buyers have plenty to choose from. The 28 three-bedroom units and 20 four-bedroom units are in an assortment of terraced, end-terrace, semi-detached and detached houses.

Streetscapes in the development are curved, to complement the village and its abbey and round tower. The high specification continues inside the houses, with German Alno kitchens, pine double-glazed windows and smart cherrywood wardrobes. Three-bedroom houses from 93 sq m (1,000 sq ft) to 110 sq m (1,180 sq ft) start at €242,995. Four-bedroom houses, some on three levels, and with 125 sq m (1,345 sq ft) of living space are from €314,995.

Standard features at Lusk Village include German-made kitchens with chrome cooker hoods. Wall tiling is standard in bathrooms, some of which have double-sized showers. Cherry wardrobes are good quality and sittingrooms include a fireplace suitable for coal or gas. Lusk is accessible to the city for commuters, yet close to the beaches and lanes that characterise this part of north county Dublin.

In deference to local tradition, McGarrell Reilly have named the cul de sacs of Lusk Village with local street names such as Miller's Square, Baker's Close and Tanner's Way.

To welcome new owners, Lusk residents have commissioned a bronze sculpture depicting the joining of hands, celebrating an infusion of young people to the area.
