THE CLEVER folk over at Ballyknocken House have come up with some great cash-saving ideas for these times.
Not only can you learn how to grow your own vegetables at the cookery school in Glenealy, Co Wicklow but they are also running a course on gourmet cooking on a budget. Bravo!
Entertaining at home is the new eating out, according to the crew at Ballyknocken and with that in mind they have designed a one-day course on how “to prepare the most impressive dish without remortgaging”.
TV3 chef Catherine Fulvio will take students through a range of dishes, including warm smoked salmon salad with white wine, kumquat and star anise braised lamb shank and white chocolate and cherry parfait. The course is on Sunday, April 26th and costs €110.
At the end of March, organic gardener Wendy Nairn is running a series of three vegetable growing classes where students learn the workings of an organic garden and the management of the seeds right through to harvest time (cost €75). At least you won’t starve!
