Dublin 15: Kitchens come with a good choice of finishes and all bathrooms come fully-tiled in a new mixed development being launched today from plans off the Navan road. Edel Morgan reports

Archers Wood off the Navan Road, near Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, is an unusual first-time buyers' scheme on several counts.

Instead of the usual tiling allowances, the bathrooms - both the en suite and main bathroom - come fully-tiled and with stylish suites.

In a welcome departure from the Shaker-style kitchen so prevalent in many new developments, buyers at Archers Wood will also have a choice of five wood finishes and co-ordinating granite worktops and three different chrome handles in what is a well-designed kitchen.

The first 52 apartments, duplexes and townhouses are being released today. Two-bedroom apartments cost from €219,000, three-bedroom apartments are from €280,000 and two-bedroom houses cost from €258,000.

Three-bedroom townhouses are priced from €320,000 and three-bedroom plus study houses are from €340,000.

There will also be five 60 sq m (650 sq ft) one -bedroom apartments starting at €197,500. Hooke & MacDonald is the selling agent.

The setting, on the grounds of the former McInerney stud, is also unusually mature and secluded for a new scheme. There are a number of local shops very close to the development and a pedestrian access to the nearest bus stop .

The scheme will have a total of 175 apartments in three blocks, and two- beds, which run from €219,000-€235,000, and will range between 74 and 89 sq m (800 and 960 sq ft) in size.

There will also be 36 houses which have two parking spaces each. Apartments also come with a parking space.

As no show apartments have been built yet, Laragan Homes has opened a marketing suite to give people an idea of the calibre of kitchens and bathrooms they can expect.

The show kitchen is particularly impressive, a deep cherry colour with a gleaming solid granite worktop and splashback and thick chrome handles.

There is an area set aside for wine storage and a state-of-the-art chrome touch control cooker hood with electric hob and a built-in oven, which come as standard.

The floors are tiled and there are brushed steel panels behind the hob and extractor.

The apartments will also be wired for plasma TV and for a multi-room sound system.

Designed by O'Mahony Pike, the apartments will also have en suite bathrooms in the main bedrooms and substantial balconies. The blocks, which have an atrium, will range from three to four storeys. Wash-hand basins in the bathrooms have a chrome mixer tap, and there is a high pressure electric shower in the en suite.

Laragan homes is part of the Hanly Group, which has been involved in quarry production and construction since 1972.

Recent projects include Skelligs Court in Waterville and Temple Court in Santry.
