Sales Results: A derelict period house on half an acre at Oakley Road in Ranelagh, Dublin 6, has been sold for just over €2 million in what must one of the most interesting sales of the year.
The owners of the Regency villa had secured planning permission to renovate the 297 sq m (3,200 sq ft) house which they bought four years ago for around €1.5 million. However, they decided not to proceed with the redevelopment which was likely to cost a significant amount given that the house is listed and in poor condition.
Selling agent Michael Turley of Turley & Associates put it on the market two weeks ago when it was featured in The Irish Times Property supplement. Two bidders immediately offered over the asking price of €1.5million. There was intense bidding between the two and it was eventually sold to a Dublin businessman for around €2.02 million - all within an hour of opening negotations.
