One of the most remarkable prices obtained at auction last week was the £820,000 paid for an eight-acre site on the Naas side of Blessington, Co Wicklow. The land is zoned for agricultural use but has development potential and adjoins an existing housing scheme. The auction was handled by J.P.& M Doyle. In Banagher, Co Offaly, Douglas Newman Good secured in excess of £200,000 prior to auction for a former cut-stone malt house on one acre on the banks of the Shannon. It has planning permission for a 44-bedroom hotel.
