The ESB Beo Celtic Music Festival begins at the National Concert Hall in Dublin tonight with La Bottine Souriante. The big band from Quebec, which has been blending jazz, salsa and folk since 1976, takes to the stage at 8 p.m. The festival continues tomorrow lunchtime with Lasarfhíona Ní Chonaola.

The Museum of Country Life is bringing the past to life this month by building a traditional house in its grounds at Turlough Park, in Co Mayo.
