THE STONE ROSES

The Stone Roses 20th Anniversary Edition

It's all been a bit of a blur – 20 years have flown by since the Roses unleashed their stone classic on the world, but it will live forever in music fans' minds as one of the finest albums of all time. The record has been remastered by original producer John Leckie; alas, only Ian Brown is looking over his shoulder, John Squire having quit music to be a full-time painter, and there's a worrying whiff of squeezing blood from a stone with the release of a box set, a vinyl edition and even a lemon-shaped USB version. The good news is that the album's greatness has diminished not one whit; from the ominous intro to I Wanna Be Adored(stretched out a bit more here) to the closing jam of I Am The Resurrection(an even more intense freak-out), the album is a heady trip through a mythical Mersey paradise, a perfect blend of blissed-up baggy and blitzed-out psychedelia. Now, when can we expect to see Stone Roses: Rock Bandin the games department? www.thestoneroses.co.uk
