Cork Opera House’s Reich Effect festival, which continues until Sunday, is not the only Irish stop on The Kronos Quartet’s current visit.
The group's second performance is at the Walled City Music Festival in Derry tomorrow, when they will repeat Steve Reich's WTC 9/11, this time in the company of works by Michael Gordon ( Clouded Yellow), Aleksandra Vrebalov ( . . . hold me, neighbor, in this storm . .. ) and Missy Mazzoli ( Harp and Altar) along with a selection of arrangements.
The festival’s line-up includes appearances by bass baritone Jonathan Lemalu (tonight) and flautists James and Jeanne Galway (in the closing concert on August 7th), as well as programmes which feature artistic director and pianist Cathal Breslin. He plays with Houston Winds on August 5th and violinist Ye-Eun Choi on August 6th.
