The Australian outback has hardly been a prolific area in terms of rock music, but you’d be surprised at how much activity goes on when the lights go down and the radio comes on.
Take the geographically askew Architecture in Helsinki. The core hometown trio of Cameron Bird, Sam Perry and Jamie Mildren moved from their rural space to Melbourne, from where they set about creating their own special version of 1990s pop. Fast forward several years and new band members have arrived, bringing with them the kind of pop nous that the original triumvirate could only bow down to in respect and awe.
The resulting blend of vision and added creativity has afforded AIH the kind of acclaim that normally gets thrown at various Canadian acts. So, our advice is to see and observe a great band in the making.
