Late-night tango in Dublin

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra is letting its hair down next Friday, September 17th

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra is letting its hair down next Friday, September 17th. The players will still appear at 8pm formally dressed in tails and gowns. But come 10pm, some of them will be back at work in a new, late-night slot for a session of tangos with Friday’s soloist, Scottish accordionist James Crabb.

This is an extension of the Latin-American flavour of Friday’s programme (which includes a concerto by Astor Piazzolla, dances from Bernstein’s West Side Story and the fourth of Villa-Lobos’s Bach-meets-Brazil-styled Bachianas Brasileiras). Entry is free to ticket holders for the main evening concert. It’s €5 if you want the late-night experience only and the NCH’s Terrace Café has €10 wine and tapas offers. See url.ie/7cyu for details
