The 4th Quarter H8rH8r **

Whether you'll enjoy the cacophony made by You're Only Massive really depends on how you feel about art projects masquerading as bands. There's certainly a sense that this Berlin-based Irish duo want to make a statement with their music (a hodgepodge of electronic beats, rap and synthpop). Yet there's almost too much to deal with on The 4th Quarter, which is drawn from a series of mixtapes concocted by Maebh Cheasty and David Murphy. School Breakis a deliciously odd Frankenstein's monster of off-kilter notes, and Special's dark Human League-esque pop is one of only a few linear tunes on offer. Yet despite the admirable attempt at fusing genres, styles and sounds, this is simply too scattered, incoherent and occasionally pretentious to work as a complete album. See youreonlymassive.com
