MUSIC NEWS:Former Fatima Mansions/ Microdisney man Cathal Coughlan has teamed up with Auteurs/Black Box Recorder frontman Luke Haines and journalist/author Andrew Mueller for a unique musical project.

North Sea Scrolls recently played their first gigs in Edinburgh to critical acclaim and will debut their material in front of Irish audiences at Triskel Arts Centre, Cork on December 2nd and The Sugar Club, Dublin on December 3rd.

The project, a mixture of music and theatre, will see Coughlan and Haines perform 12 songs on piano and guitar, their narrative based on the fictional North Sea Scrolls, documents allegedly pertaining to a “parallel, semi-hidden history of these islands”. Mueller will read footnotes linking each song to the next, and the musical pair will be accompanied by cellist Audrey Riley.
