HYPE
POD, Dublin Fri 11pm €12/€10 01-6624305
Time to go deep and dubby. Jamie “Jimpster” Odell (below) has carved out a lucrative niche for himself in recent years with his Freerange label, remixes, releases (as both Jimpster and Audiomontage) and DJing displays at clubs worldwide.
Odell’s sound is warm, deep and dancefloor-friendly. There have been a couple of albums (Armour, in particular, received a lot of critical love) bearing Odell’s name, while such recent cuts as Dangly Panther and Sleeper have seen him continue that quest for the perfect lush, deep groove. At the label, Odell has provided a home for such producers as Kirk Degiorgio, Square One, Milton Jackson and others to preach a deep gospel.
Aside from the Essex man’s dubby basslines and old-school vibes, Hype will also feature support from Ro Flynn, with DJ Flip and Enda Waldron at large in the Lobby Bar.
