A man has been remanded on bail after being charged in connection with an incident in which a woman was attacked at her home in Cork city.
The accused (43), who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested after the woman (20s) suffered a stab wound to her hand when a man entered her house earlier this week. She was minding her baby at the time.
The man appeared before Cork District Court on Wednesday and was charged with assault causing harm to the woman on Evergreen Road in Cork on February 10th.
Det Garda Patrick Houlihan, of the Bridewell Garda station, said he arrested the man at 8.25pm on Tuesday for the purpose of charging him.

He told the court that when the charge was put to the accused, he replied: “Thanks so much and thanks for the clear measures in this case – I look forward to being released to go back to my children."
Sgt Gearoid Davis said gardaí had no objection to bail once the accused was willing to abide by certain conditions including that he would reside at his home address in Co Cork.
He also asked that the man sign on daily at his local garda station, abide by an 11pm-to-7am curfew and surrender his passport to gardaí.
Gardaí also want the accused to have no contact, directly or indirectly, with the injured party or any of her family and that he stay out of the southside of Cork city.
Defence solicitor Frank Buttimer said his client was willing to abide by those terms.
Judge Mary Dorgan remanded the accused on bail to appear in court again on April 24th for the Director of Public Prosecution’s directions.
