IRELAND'S trade surplus rose by £197 million in the year to October 1995, according to data released yesterday by the Central Statistics Office. The country spent £281 million more on imports, in October 1995, compared to October 1994, and exported £479 million more goods. The value of imports increased from £1.6 billion in October 1994 to £1.8 billion in the same month in 1995. In the same period, the value of exports increased from £2 billion to £2.5 billion, an increase of 23 per cent. As a result the trade surplus rose from £486 million in October 1994 to £683 million in October 1995.
