Tesco Ireland will create 2,200 new jobs in stores and 1,000 construction jobs over the next two years, the company has told the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
In a progress report submitted to the Department earlier this year the retail multiple said 600 new jobs have been created since the acquisition of Quinnsworth/Crazy Prices in March 1997, bringing to 8,900 the total employed.
The company also said it would be adding a further 90 Irish-made Tesco brand products to the 60 Irish-made Tesco brand products already being sold. It also stated that a number of previously imported Premium Choice brand products would be produced in Ireland under the Tesco brand.
Tesco is involved in a multi-million pound investment programme involving the refurbishment and relaunching of each of its stores and the development of two new stores at Liffey Valley and on the Malahide Road, both in Dublin.
