Mr Bill McCabe, the former chairman and chief executive of CBT Systems, has joined the board of Silicon Systems Ltd (SSL) as a director. SSL, based in Dublin, is one of Europe's largest independent semiconductor design companies. It recently announced an £8.2 million investment, which will increase employment from 130 to 315.
Ms Rosemary Bowe has become general manager of International Financial Systems, the Dublin-based software company. Ms Bowe was formerly with Kindle Banking Systems and worked for 10 years with Bank of Ireland, where she was a cross-currency dealer.
Mr Simon Shirley is to be responsible for BDO Simpson Xavier's new service, Personal Wealth Management. The service involves a financial planning review and recommendation service for the firm's existing and potential clients.
Mr Shirley, a chartered accountant, worked for a financial planning and investment consultancy company, prior to joining BDO Simpson Xavier.
Mr Garret Roche has become an executive director at CPL Solutions, the IT contracting company. Previously Mr Roche was a manager at the company.
An independent film-maker and former public relations consultant has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Irish Screen Commission.
Mr Roger Greene has been involved in the film industry for more than a decade. He founded Charlemont Films in 1987 and has produced documentaries for the BBC, RTE, UTV and Channel 4.
The IDA chief executive, Mr Kieran McGowan, has accepted a request from the Tanaiste, Ms Harney, to be Ireland's commissioner general for the Expo 2000 world fair to be held in Hanover, Germany. Mr McGowan steps down from his IDA position in December.
The international security firm, Control Risks, has appointed Mr Pat O'Brien as its agent in the Republic. Mr O'Brien has served in the Irish Defence Forces as commandant where his duties were with the military police corps. He saw service with the United Nations in the Congo, Cyprus and Lebanon and is a former head of security at RTE.
Neworld Brand, the new product development consultancy, has appointed Mr Thomas McNulty as brand design consultant. Mr McNulty comes from San Francisco, California, where he was vice-president of Profile Design, working with clients like Pepsi, Dole Foods, Lipton, Kraft Foods, Snapple Beverage and Van Den Bergh Foods.
