Former Greencore chief executive Mr Gerry Murphy has been appointed chief executive of UK media company, Carlton Communications.
Earlier this year, Kilkenny born Mr Murphy (44) negotiated the merger of his NFC logistics group with the Ocean freight business in a £3.2 billion sterling (€5.1 billion) deal. It was reported that he departed with £1.5 million sterling as well as substantial amounts of NFC shares.
Carlton chairman Mr Michael Green announced last Friday that the media company was pulling out of a planned merger with United News and Media.
