The Tánaiste, Ms Harney, has announced the largest State funding yet in support of scientific research.
The programme forges collaborative links between company and university researchers and the initial funding round is worth more than €50 million.
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) runs the scheme (known as CSETs - Centres for Science, Engineering and Technology). NUI Galway, Royal College of Surgeons and UCC will share €42 million.
