Bausch & Lomb is planning to extend its manufacturing operation in Waterford as part of a major investment in Ireland.

Bausch & Lomb is planning to extend its manufacturing operation in Waterford as part of a major investment in Ireland.

The company, which currently employs 1,100 people in Waterford, is seeking planning permission from Waterford City Council to extend its premises to include new production facilities, storage areas, new delivery facilities, a plant room and space for future expansion.

Bausch & Lomb is mid-way through a $100 million investment programme in the Waterford operation.

The 4,000sq m extension will also help facilitate a promised increase in production at the 28,000sq m facility at Waterford Industrial Estate.It will also manufacture new products the company intends to launch in the future.

Bausch & Lomb has had a manufacturing facility in Waterford for more than 30 years.

Chief executive Brent Saunders said Waterford would continue to play a significant role in the growth and success of Bausch & Lomb.
