The chief executive of Dublin-based holding company, Enba, has been named e-finance executive of the year at the European Online Financial Services Awards in London. Austrian-born, Dr Gerhard Huber, was recognised for originating the concept, First-e, the first European Internet-only bank.

Enba launched First-e in Britain last August in co-operation with Banque d'Escompte of France. It plans to expand into Germany, France, Italy and Spain by 2001.
