Critical documentary evidence relating to a €127,000 loan to a member of Gurranabraher Credit Union, Cork, may have to be forensically examined, the High Court was told yesterday.

Dr John O'Mahoney, counsel for the Credit Union's former manager, Mr Alec Good, who claims to have been unfairly sacked last year, said he understood there may have been an alteration in the loan application form.

He told Mr Justice Tom Smyth the document was a critical piece of evidence in Mr Good's claim for damages against the Credit Union for wrongful dismissal.

Judge Smyth stated that the customer concerned should not be identified.

Mr Good, of Hillcourt, Donnybrook, Douglas, Cork, and his former deputy manager, Ms Patricia O'Neill, Presentation Road, Gurranabraher, are both suing for damages for alleged wrongful dismissal.

Their case is due for a full hearing on October 21st and had been put in for mention yesterday in relation to an order made by Judge Smyth on July 31st last for the inspection and listing of documents relevant to the trial. Mr John McMenamin, counsel for the Credit Union, said a room had been set aside in the Credit Union offices to facilitate the inspection by representatives of Mr Good and Ms O'Neill.
