Michael Gladney, head of the Revenue Commissioners’ Limerick Tax District South West Region’s Large Enterprise Audit Unit, has been appointed as the new Collector General.
He replaces Gerry Harrahill, who led the Revenue’s collection arm for seven years and has recently been assigned as head of the Corporate Affairs and Customs Division.
Both the position of Collector General and the new post being taken up by Mr Harrahill are at assistant secretary level.
A native of Glynn, Co Carlow and educated at CBS, New Ross, Co Wexford, Mr Gladney has spent 18 years in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. He previously worked in the Valuation Office.
The Collector General’s Division is responsible for the timely collection and recovery of all of the main Exchequer taxes as they fall due.
It is primarily focused on making it as easy as possible for businesses and individuals to meet their tax payment/tax filing obligations and implementing debt recovery proceedings, including insolvency proceedings, where necessary.
