In the last of the current series of Agenda: Politics and Money This Week (TV3, Sunday, noon), David McWilliams interviews Peter Jay, author of the Wealth of Man and presenter of BBC's Road To Riches (also Sunday) live in studio about the history of money from its earliest time.
Jay explains his "waltz" theory of economics (two steps forward one step sideways) and why he believes Ireland is currently in the pause stage. He'll also explain why his money's on the euro.
Also on the programme, the Competition Authority head, John Fingleton on why real competition is imperative for Ireland's progress.
A chance to see the man himself in action as Peter Jay continues his series Road to Riches (Sunday, BBC2, 8 p.m.), He reveals the story of the world's first entrepreneurs, unearthing 1,000-year-old documents about the lives of Jewish merchants who traded under Islam. He also travels through Italy where, in the Middle Ages, governments first spotted the potential benefits of backing business.
In Back to the Floor (Wednesday, BBC2, 10 p.m.), the series where bosses return to the shop floor, David Batt goes to work at two of his luxury London hotels.
The Man Who Mustique (Thursday, Channel 4, 9 p.m.) follows Lord Glenconner as he visits the island he once owned, paying £45,000 for it. In the 1970s Colin Tennant brought affluence to the Caribbean island turning it into a playpen of the rich. But, financial difficulties meant he was forced to sell. Never an easy man, Tennant sulks, threatens, walks out and even resorts to throwing a chair as he battles for control with director Joseph Bullman.
